Jones Dairy Farm, a family owned and operated business for over 130 years, is seeking a Meat Scientist.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to Interact and collaborate with management/employees and suppliers to develop new products as well as assist in new and existing product formulations

Position Summary: 

Coordinates product improvement, process improvement, new ingredient testing, new equipment testing and new supplier testing.  Assists with new product development.  Responsible for sensory and shelf-life testing on new products as well as monitoring changes to existing products.  Understands food principles, interactions of various ingredients, and is familiar with USDA regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Operations technical expertise and problem solving for new and existing items/processes.
• Support the implementation of new products and equipment by designing test runs to validate processes.
• Work independently to run and supervise tests; testing may be conducted on various shifts or weekends as needed.
• Document and retain records of any testing, calibrations, HACCP paperwork involved as a key component of project management.
• Assist with the evaluation of various food ingredients, packaging material and casings.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science or related field. HACCP Certified.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with and direct all production workers and supervisors to run tests.
• Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and demonstrate a working knowledge of and ability to run/learn all Meat processing equipment.
• Project management and packaging experience preferred.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of all production equipment, preferred.
