Take a walk with expert guides while exploring local parks with friends and family. Rejuvenate and refresh your mind and body while helping your community at the same time. Nature provides the water we drink, the air we breath and the food we eat. But food is not always plentiful for our neighbors. Help your community by donating non-perishable food items for Walworth County Food Pantries. In Touch With Trees Learn how trees nourish thousand of other creatures including us. Birds, butterflies and people depend on these majestic giants. Even other plants depend on trees like delicious and healthy mushrooms! Mushrooms are a critical participant in a healthy forest ecosystem and a healthy addition to your diet. Ingrid West, president of ShiiGAW (Shiitake Growers Association of Wisconsin) will talk about the importance of mushrooms for our woodlands and how we can grow mushrooms in our gardens. She will demonstrate how to make your own shiitake mushroom log. Afterwards, join a guided walk to learn a few tips about identifying trees and why some are more notable than others.
