Please consider an additional amount toward the scholarship fund when purchasing tickets.
262-472-1228 UW-Whitewater Music Department presents their annual Gala Holiday Concert in Young Auditorium. This holiday tradition is filled with joyous sounds from nearly every ensemble and takes place throughout the facility in the lobby, terrace, and stage. Small ensembles play prior to the performance, during intermission and post concert. The event includes a dinner in the Kachel Center at 6:00 pm and a silent auction in the Fern Young Terrace starting at 7:00 pm through the end of intermission. All proceeds benefit the Music Department scholarship fund. Here is a sample of some of the music you will hear: Jazz Ensemble I will perform God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen arranged by Gordon Goodwin. Vocal Jazz will sing That?s What I Want for Christmas by E.E. Lawrence, arranged by Paul Langford and A Charlie Brown Christmas, by Vince Guaraldi, arranged by Steve Zegree. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will play A Christmas Festival, by Leroy Anderson and the Whitewater Symphony Orchestra performs Polonaise from Christmas Eve Suite by Rimsky-Korsakov. The Chamber Singers will perform arrangements of Christmas Carols by the late celebrated Minnesota composer, Stephen Paulus including Angels and Shepherds. The combined choirs and orchestra piece will be Regina coeli by W. A. Mozart, a celebration of the ?Queen of Heaven? that quotes Handel?s Hallelujah Chorus on several occasions. The Gospel Choir will also perform in addition to many small student ensembles and choirs. The Gala Holiday Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and costs $24 per person. The menu includes: sweet maple glazed pork medallions, penne pasta with grilled vegetables & pesto, mixed field greens salad, marinated vegetable salad, buttered corn, lemon dilled carrots, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and double chocolate cake.
