An introduction to Arduino hardware and software will be presented at the Whitewater Maker Space on February 21st from 1:00-5:00. The teacher is Al Jewer, president of Alcomp, Inc. Al has over 40 years of experience in embedded control design and is an Atmel factory certified developer. Participants will receive an Arduino 2560 CPU development board, a power supply and a kit of parts to build numerous experiments. Cost for the course is $35, which covers the cost of materials. The course will cover both the software development language (which is free, courtesy of Google) and basic electronic hardware design. Basic projects will include sensing a button, lighting and blinking an LED under software control, sensing brightness and using it to control motor speed and using a buzzer to play simple musical melodies. Participants will have parts to build a lot more experiments after the workshop is over. Links to software and hardware examples of more advance projects will be provided. Previous hardware or software experience is useful but not required.
