Todd Strother: Using the CTC to Obtain SBIR Grants

Dr. Todd Strother is a consultant for the Center for Technology Commercialization (CTC). He has worked in product development/management in entrepreneurial firms and in industry. He currently helps businesses obtain Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding and guides their commercialization efforts. SBIR grants allow companies to hire researchers, purchase supplies and pay for studies from the feasibility stage all the way to prototyping and commercialization. Approximately $2.5 billion in research money is available to small businesses. The CTC is tasked with assisting these companies in learning about, preparing for, and submitting high quality grant proposals. As part of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, the CTC provides these services free of charge to all qualified Wisconsin small businesses. Dr. Strother will present background and introduction to the SBIR program, including tips on how to prepare a winning SBIR proposal, as well as details on services available through the CTC. The event will begin at 5:30 pm with networking and appetizers from 841 Brewhouse. The presentation will start at 6:00 pm, followed by a question-and-answer session.
